The 7th International Conference on Education, Language, Art and Intercultural Communication was held by the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Language and Culture and the International Science and Culture Center for Academic Contacts at the Moscow House of Nationalities on December 8-9, 2020 (Moscow, Russia). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference was held in the online format.
ICELAIC 2020 was jointly organized by the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Language and Culture (Russia), the International Science and Culture Center for Academic Contacts (Russia), the Moscow House of Nationalities (Russia), Zhengzhou Yingchun Conference Planning Co. Ltd (China), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Russia) and Private Slavic Gymnasium (Bratislava, Slovakia).
The Conference was dedicated to discussing topical issues in closely related areas: language, verbal arts, communication, culture, and education. The conference participants presented the results of their research in the following areas of linguistics: sociolinguistics, functional linguistics, grammar studies, terminography, lexicology, stylistics, semiotics, translation studies, and others. Much attention was paid to the discussion of new technologies in language teaching. Specialists in the field of literature presented the results of their research on the following topics: analysis of a literary work, problems of translation of a literary text into a foreign language, national literature as the reflection of national self-consciousness, and teaching strategies of reading foreign literary classics in the context of big data. Besides, the Conference covered a number of topics in the field of communication and culture, including intercultural communication and dialogue of ethnic cultures in the context of digitalization of society, mass communication and mass media today, protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, innovation and development of the traditional culture, cultural heritage as a tourist resource, cultivation of cultural literacy, intracultural and intercultural religious communication, cultivation of the intercultural communication competence in the context of new media communication, and others. In the field of education, reports on the following topical issues aroused particular interest: models of application of IT in teaching in the conditions of transformation of the education system and searching for a new paradigm, the potential of the agile technology application in university education, and others.
